Nice To Meet You!

& Welcome to
Little Hippy Co!

We're Leah & Eric, parents of Lincoln and Zoe, our two amazing children both born with developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Developmental dysplasia of the hip has long played a role in our lives, with Leah being diagnosed with hip dysplasia as an infant.  Luckily, over thirty years later, much work has been done on the research and development of treatment options for DDH.

In 2020, our story with hip dysplasia continued when our daughter was born with dislocating hips.

Zoe was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at 2 weeks old and would go on to complete 12 weeks of treatment in a Pavlik harness.

Three years later, our son Lincoln was born showing no signs of hip dysplasia.  Given our family history, he was prescribed an ultrasound at 6 weeks old to screen for developmental dysplasia of the hip, and a diagnosis was confirmed shortly thereafter.  Lincoln too completed his 12-week treatment in a Pavlik harness, and our journey towards the creation of Little Hippy Co. was established.

We found that as new, sleep deprived parents with a brand-new baby, adjusting to life with a Pavlik harness was overwhelming both times.  The experiences were made more challenging by complete lack of available products for infants wearing hip harnesses within Canada.  We ordered products from abroad with long lead times and shipping that cost more than the product itself, in desperate need of anything that would make our lives a bit easier.

The need for hip dysplasia clothing and products within North America became so clear to us that we simply couldn’t ignore it, and the idea of starting our own line of clothing specifically for hip harness wearing infants was born.

Our mission from the start was simple; make the lives of parents and caregivers with Little Hippies like our own, just a little bit easier.

This started with identifying pants and pajamas as being the two garments most sought after by DDH families, given the limitations a Pavlik harness created with conventional clothing.  We worked with a Canadian manufacturer to produce our product, and sourced bamboo textiles that would provide breathability and comfort for layering over a
harness.

Lastly, we wanted to ensure families had clothing designed
specifically for their hip harness wearing infant that didn’t compromise on style.  Each of our pieces is designed with current fashion trends in mind, ensuring Little Hippies remain hip.
